September Toxin-Free Beauty Picks: 5 Must Haves This Month

Just how I choose to nourish my body with organic, junk free food, I give my skin the care it deserves by choosing all-natural and organic beauty products. Yes, they may be more expensive, but it's a good health investment, as many of the products on the market today contain an astonishing number of chemicals. From formaldehyde to cancer-linked parabens, the everyday product you are buying is most likely a toxic disaster. Certified all-natural products are not only better for your health and don't contain synthetic fragrances, but they won't harm the environment.

That being said, these are my favorite beauty picks for this month:

  1. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Naked Palette

Why you need it:

100% Pure's palette features all of the essentials; a shimmery highlight, strong blush, and three subtle eyeshadows perfect for an everyday, natural look. The best part? Everything is made from the pigments of fruits, vegetables, and seeds.

  1. Noyah Lipstick in Empire Red

Why you need it:

Noyah's all-natural and kosher lipsticks come in several stunning shades. My personal fave? Empire Red for a classic, bold look. The colors are strong but not overwhelming and stay all day with little smudge. The beautiful bamboo packaging not only adds style to your makeup bag but results in a 60% reduction in plastic, yay!

  1. W3LL People Hypnotist Eyeliner in Black

Why you need it:

This jet black pencil liner makes for a great smokey eye. The dark color glides on with ease and blends well. I would recommend using with a base or setting powder as it can smudge after a few hours.

  1. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Ultra Lengthening Mascara in Black Tea

Why you need it:

This natural mascara by 100% pure is a dream for creating a natural look. It thickens and lengthens without clumps and does not cause any lash breakage like many drug store brands,  It's so natural it even smells of blueberries. I should mention that although it is fabulous, it does tend to dry up and lose effectiveness after 6 months or so.

  1. Gressa Minimalist Serum Foundation

Why you need it:

It's a foundation, serum and multivitamin in one! Need I say any more? Gressa's minimalist serum foundation gives a stunning satin matte finish and medium to full coverage without the cakey look. It may be expensive but a little goes a long way with this one.

Beef Bulgogi Bowls

Makes 2 Large Bowls

1 lb. grass-fed rib eye or sirloin steak

2 tablespoons cooking oil of choice

2 tablespoons coconut aminos

2 tablespoons freshly minced garlic

1 tablespoon raw honey or sweetener of choice

2 stems of green onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

4 cups dark leafy greens

2 cups roasted broccoli

3 large carrots, roasted

3 cups cauliflower rice

Homemade Mayo

+ hot sauce (to taste)

= spicy mayo!

1) To make the roasted vegetables, throw frozen broccoli and carrots onto a baking sheet, drizzle in cooking oil of choice, salt and pepper, and roast in the oven at 375F for 30 minutes or so. Remove and set aside.

2) Place the steaks in a large bowl with coconut aminos, minced garlic, raw honey, salt and pepper. Let marinate for 10-30 minutes.

3) In a large skillet, add cooking oil and saute the steaks (along with sauce) over medium high heat or until the steak is medium-well done.

4) Set the beef aside and slice into thin pieces.

5) Using the same pan, heat up your cauliflower rice in the skillet until piping hot.

5) To each bowl, add 2 cups of greens. Top greens with 1-2 carrots, 1 cup roasted broccoli, 1 1/2 cups cauliflower rice, 1/2 lb of steak and chopped green onion. Add a dollop of spicy mayo on the side, sprinkle with sesame seeds and enjoy!
